Emily, Rosie and Sasha (Year 8)
Class 4 and 5 Pool Party – Saturday, 26th May
Please arrive at the pool between 6.30 and 6.35 so we can begin promptly at 6.45. You need to bring a 20p piece for a locker. Parents are welcome to stay and spectate.
The Way
There will be NO rehearsal on Saturday, 26th May, as insufficient numbers are able to attend.
The dates for The Way will be as follows:
Dress Rehearsal - Friday 6th July, 2pm
Performance 1 - Monday 9th July, 7:00 pm
Performance 2 - Tuesday 10th July, 7:00 pm
The venue is Emmaus School.
Year 11 Prom
The Year 11 pupils were consulted about whether they wanted a Prom this year. They decided that they would prefer to come back next year and join with the current Year 10 pupils when they have their Prom. This would seem to be a sensible decision because there are only three Year 11’s this year.
Olympic Torch
As the Olympic Torch passes through this area, many Christians are using it as an opportunity to pray for the advance of God's Kingdom.
There is a very interesting letter from someone currently living in Greece. It is a very balanced account of the spiritual background of the Olympic Games. Copies are available for you to take in the Entrance Porch.
The Story of Emmaus School - A catalyst for Prayer
Please find attached the story of how the School began. Some of you will have heard the story before, for others it will be the first time you have read this amazing account. It is good to re-tell the story as a memorial to God's greatness and goodness. It will inspire you to pray that God will continue to meet the needs of the School! Joshua 4: 4-7
So Joshua called together the twelve men he had appointed from the Israelites, one from each tribe, 5 and said to them, “Go over before the ark of the Lord your God into the middle of the Jordan. Each of you is to take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, 6 to serve as a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’ 7 tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord . When it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever.”
Jubilee Party
The Jubilee Party lists will be going up early next week for signing up. In the meantime, we are sending home the party menu to give you an idea of the kind of food you could sign up to.
The party is on the afternoon of the 1st June. The plan is to start at 1pm with a selection of fete type stalls and games followed by a Commonwealth tea which will finish by 3pm. We will also be sending home copies of these lists. If you are unable to come into the school, you could ask your child to put your name down on your behalf. We need as much help as possible to make this special event a success.
GCSE pupils
Please pray for Daniel Moore, Tali Midgley and Lydia
Walter. Thank you.
